Ajman is one of the so-called predatory states, as this sheikdom, like others on the Arabian Peninsula, threw a large number of stamps onto the market in their short period of stamp issuance. The vast majority of these stamps have never seen their own country. Instead, they were printed and used by agencies for postage stamp packages in the style of “100 worldwide butterfly stamps”. The stamps were pre-cancelled for this purpose.

Ajman issued a total of 2995 stamps in the main numbers from 1964 to 1973. Ajman ceased to exist on December 31, 1971 and was incorporated into the United Arab Emirates. The agency contracts ran until March 31, 1972 and accordingly the agencies issued an inflationary number of stamps in this period until July. In fact, the 1972 editions could no longer be used in their own country. In this respect, one can generally question their status as postage stamps.

Even in 1973 stamp editions were still thrown on the market. The sheetlet issues are recorded with several hundred in the main numbers.
