Between December 18, 1937 and February 21, 1938, Norway issued, as part of definitive stamps, 4 stamps featuring the portrait of King Haakon VII. They were withdrawn in the wake of the German Occupation on April, 30, 1940 (First period of stamp validity). The reason was certainly due to the political significance of the King. The stamps were valid again as of September 1, 1981 (Second period of validity).
