The 138th British Open Championship in golf sports took place at the Ailsa Course Turnberry in 2009. A corresponding cover with a matching postmark was issued. The stamping device proved erroneous either with a production fault or with later damaging. Therefore the postmark was withdrawn quickly and replaced by a correct, even if smaller, postmark. The winning champion of the tournament was Stewart Cink.
