In 2007, to mark the 200th anniversary of the Tyrolean Rebellion of 1809 in 2009, the South Tyrolean party "Union for South Tyrol" commissioned a personalized stamp. The stamp read "Loyalty to the Land of Tyrol". The phrase comes from a march composed in the 1950s, which also refers to the secession of South Tyrol in 1919 in the wake of World War 1. Furthermore, the text "1809-2009, Tyrol from Kufstein to Salurn" is on the stamp.
In addition to the castle near Merano, the stamp shows the whole of Tyrol with North, East and South Tyrol in the same borders. Triggered by a complaint of a member of the neo-fascist party "Alleanza Nazionale" in the South Tyrolean parliament to the Italian government, there were corresponding public discussions about the stamp. Whether the Italian government put pressure on the Austrian government is not on record, a corresponding parliamentary question of Austrian MPs to their own government was answered in the negative. A reprint of the quickly sold-out stamp, which was also commissioned by the "Union for South Tyrol", was rejected in a corresponding letter from the Austrian Post. Austrian Post will therefore probably have acted under the impression of the public debate.
