On November 14, 2017, stamp booklets were to be issued in Canada on the occasion of Hanukkah (Jewish Festival of Lights) with self-adhesive stamps. The stamp booklet with 10 stamps featured a single "Star of David" of the nine-branched Menorah on the front cover. Canada Post decided to change the design of the stamp booklet shortly before issue. The Star of David residing in the center of the Menorah was replaced with an arm of the Menorah with four candlesticks. According to the Canadian Post, this would better represent the character of the Festival of Lights. As a result, stocks of the stamp booklet were not issued, though dealers had received advance copies.
The recall with the request not to sell the stamp booklets and to return them to Canada Post by November 20, 2017, was not entirely successful. The also issued first day cover and the corresponding "Details" magazine with description of the issue were also subject to the recall. The stamp booklet in the new design was issued on November 22, 2017.
