On April 19, 2018, King Mswati III declared the change of the country's name from Swaziland to Eswatini. This in order to eliminate a relic of colonial times and to remove the similarity of Swaziland with Switzerland. The first renamed stamps were issued on April 18, 2018, on the occasion of the 50th birthday of the king and 50 years of independence of the country. The last stamps with the country name Swaziland were issued on August 21, 2017
