On 20/71956, the GDR issued 2 stamps commemorating the 100^th anniversary of composer Robert Schumann's death. The stamps erroneously featured handwritten music of the Goethe poem “Wanderers Nachtlied” from Franz Schubert. The stamps were withdrawn 3 days later. Corrected stamps with handwritten music from Schumann were issued on 8/10/1956. The withdrawn stamps were later sold to stamp collectors.
