In 1994, Indonesia issued a commemorative stamp series depicting “Flora & Fauna”. 15000 sheets with 50 stamps each were printed, organised with 10 different stamps in se-tenants. Shortly after issue two errors were detected. The bird “Serindit Melayu” was labelled with the latin species name “Loriculus posillus”, but the bird shown on the stamp in fact belongs to the species “Loriculus galgulus”.
The stamp depicting the orchid “Anggrek Larat orchid” was labelled with the latin name “Phalaenopsis amabilis”, while its true latin name is “Dendrobium phalaenopsis”. Due to the errors the selling of the stamps was stopped.
