On December 2, 1981, Laos issued a stamp set commemorating the 6th Anniversary of the Foundation of the People’s Republic. The stamps were allegedly withdrawn shortly after issue with only 3-digit numbers of the sets being sold. The various stamp catalogues (Michel, SG, Yvert, Scott) do not paint a unified picture on the circumstances of these stamps. A withdrawal is nowhere mentioned and prices in the catalogue vary. The stamps in MNH quality are traded with higher price tags while used copies seem to be sold much lower.
