On December 23, 1996, Madagascar issued a sheetlet as part of various stamp issues commemorating “Famous Individuals”, commemorating François Mitterrand. The sheetlets exist in a perforated and non-perforated version. In addition, there are sheetlets existing where the syntax of “Mitterand” is wrong, missing an “r”. It remains unclear whether these sheetlets are unissued or have been withdrawn shortly after the date of issue and replaced by the corrected version.
