Postal Agreement with Canada

On March 8, 1993, the Order of Malta (SMOM) issued a stamp within the framework of bilateral postal agreements. In this case it was for the corresponding agreement with Canada. Among other things, the stamp bore the inscription “CONVENZIONE POSTALE CON LA REPUBBLICA DEL CANADA”. However, Canada is not a republic but a federal parliamentary monarchy with the English king/queen as head of state. The stamp was withdrawn on March 16, 1993, due to the error. On March 25, 1993, a corrected stamp was issued, which now read: “CONVENZIONE POSTALE CON IL CANADA”.
