In 1992 Papua New Guinea issued commemorative stamps picturing birds of paradise. The face value currency “Toea” was erroneously labelled as “T” instead of the correct “t”. The error was noticed in time and corrected stamps were issued. Nonetheless found some of the erroneous stamps their way into public. Those were immediately traded with speculative pricing. The Papuan Post thus decided to issue the error stamps in their entirety to terminate speculation (1993).
