On September 25, 1995, the Philippines issued a se-tenant with four stamps and a souvenir sheet to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the United Nations. These showed five prominent Filipinos who had worked for the United Nations. The top left stamp of the block of four was dedicated to Cesar C. Bengzon of Justice, a United Nations body, from 1966 to 1976.
However, Jose Bengzon (1898-1990), his cousin, also a judge, was wrongly depicted on the stamp. The se-tenant was withdrawn after two days. The depiction of Cesar C. Bengzon on a new issue was rejected by the family. A se-tenant with the same design was therefore issued on October 9, 1995, with the top left stamp replaced. Now the likeness of Carlos P. Romulo (1899-1985) was depicted, the same person who also featured the souvenir sheet issued with the incorrect se-tenant. Cesar C. Bengzon was depicted in a strip of 5 themed “Famous Filipinos” in 1996.
