African Art

Between December 1967 and March 1968, Portuguese Guinea issued obligatory tax stamps featuring African art. The 2$ face value stamp, showing a bull’s mask, was imprinted with “TOCADOR DE BOMBOLON - ARTE BIJAGO”, the correct description being “VACA BRUTO - ARTE BIJAGO”. Therefore a corrected stamp was also issued. Remaining stocks of the “wrong” stamp were re-issued later in the year overprinted with new face values.
