On November 12, 2022, a court in Madrid stopped the issuance of the stamp "100 Years of the Spanish Communist Party (PCE)," scheduled for November 14, 2022. An ultra-conservative group called "Christian Lawyers" had sued, arguing that the stamp violated the political neutrality of postage stamps, as the PCE would be responsible for mass murders in the Spanish Civil War. The court wanted to examine the allegations first. In fact, the ruling was overturned and the stamp was issued on November 18, 2022.
Due to the publicity of the stamp, the original issue was increased from 135.000 to 435.000. In addition to the first day cancel of November 14, 2022, a similar, two colour, special postmark was also used by the Madrid 131 post office on November 18, 2022.
