On June 12, 2014, Turkey issued a set of stamps on the occasion of the Football World Cup. The stamps were withdrawn from sale after two weeks. The reason was licensing problems. The point of contention was probably the representation of the 2014 World Cup in small format with the lettering "FIFA WORLD CUP". Turkey issued two replacement stamps on August 8, 2014, this time without the questionable depiction. Approximately 15,000 sets of the withdrawn stamps are said to have entered circulation.
