On August 27, 1992, as part of a stamp issue on the theme "History and culture of Turkmenistan", one of the stamps was issued with the portrait of President Saparmurat Niyazov (1940-2006) and the Turkmen flag. However, the flag on the stamp was a mirror image. As a result, a corrected stamp was put into circulation on October 27, 1992.
